About The Position

This role involves diagnosing, treating, and preventing medical conditions that affect women. The physician will monitor and treat patients during pregnancy and childbirth, prescribe medications, and order or interpret diagnostic tests. Responsibilities include performing surgical procedures, referring patients to specialists or other professionals, and participating in continuing education to maintain licensure and enhance skills. The physician will also direct and coordinate patient care activities, write discharge summaries, conduct discharge planning, and communicate with primary care physicians for continuity of care. Additionally, the role requires attending inpatient consultations, admitting patients for hospital stays and surgical procedures, and participating in Independence Health Medical Group meetings, Leadership meetings, and Physician committees as requested. The work environment is modern, featuring audio-dictation, EMR, and digital radiology. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
  • Completion of OB/GYN residency program.
  • Strong leadership ability.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Independent and critical thinking skills.
  • Sound judgment.
  • Knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.
  • Current medical license in the state of Pennsylvania.
  • Certification by the American Board of Pain Medicine, or board eligible.
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
  • Current DEA Registration
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS)

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) to Four (4) years’ experience in OB/GYN.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, treat and prevent medical conditions that affect women.
  • Monitor and treat patients during pregnancy and childbirth.
  • Prescribe medications or treatment regimens as appropriate.
  • Order or interpret the results of tests such as laboratory tests and radiography and advanced imaging.
  • Perform surgical procedures to prevent or surgically correct injury, treat disease, or abnormalities by using surgical techniques to increase patient functioning.
  • Refer patients to medical specialists, social services or other professionals as appropriate.
  • Participate in continuing education activities to maintain license certification and enhance knowledge skills.
  • Direct, coordinate, or supervise the patient care activities of nursing or support services.
  • Write patient discharge summaries.
  • Conduct discharge planning and discharge patients.
  • Communicate with patients' primary care physicians upon hospital discharge to maintain continuity and quality of care.
  • Attend inpatient consultations in areas of specialty.
  • Diagnose, treat, or provide continuous care to patients.
  • Admit patients for hospital stays and surgical procedures.
  • Participation in Independence Health Medical Group meetings, Leadership meetings and Physician committees upon request.
