About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is seeking a BC/BE Neurologist who is fellowship trained in MS/Neuroimmunology. The physician will join a group of 13 neurologists and 5 advanced practice clinicians with a focus on general neurology and neurology subspecialties. This group serves as principal faculty for the Sanford USD School of Medicine and is beginning a Neurology Residency program in Summer 2023. The practice is outpatient only, as dedicated neuro-hospitalists and stroke specialists provide inpatient coverage. Sanford Neurology is certified Thrombectomy Capable stroke through Joint Commission. Sanford Health is a large integrated health system focused on improving the human condition, with operations in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, including 46 medical centers, 1,500 physicians, and numerous specialized facilities and services.

Requirements

M.D. or D.O. degree.
Fellowship trained in MS/Neuroimmunology.
BC/BE Neurologist.
Successful completion of a Neurology residency program accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/ subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
If not board certified at the time of application, must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of residency training unless waived.
Demonstrate active involvement of inpatient services to be at least 50 patients in the last 12 months (if applicable).
Demonstrate active involvement in the care of 50 patients in clinical practice in the last 12 months (if quality profile not available).

Nice To Haves

Experience can be demonstrated by residency logs and completed rotations for recent graduates.
For those not applying directly out of residency, a quality profile from current hospitals showing clinical activity for the last 12 months (including procedures, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and complications) is required.
Training at residency programs accredited by organizations other than ACGME, AOA, or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada may be considered via waiver.

Responsibilities

Perform history and physical examination.
Admit patients (if applicable to the setting).
Provide consultative services.
Evaluate, diagnose, and provide nonsurgical care to patients of all ages presenting with illnesses, injuries, and disorders of the neurologic system.
