About The Position

Locum physician providing inpatient interventional cardiology coverage on specified dates in November, December, and January. Coverage is available 3–7 days per month and consists of 24-hour on-call shifts from 7 AM to 7 AM. The position includes EMTALA call responsibilities, required weekend coverage, and responding to all cardiology-related calls within the hospital. There are no ambulatory patients; the focus is solely on inpatient cases involving adults. The interventional cardiology group consists of two cardiologists, with other interventional cardiologists available during coverage. Documentation is completed using Epic Cupid.

The physician performs the required interventional procedures and provides general cardiology consultations as needed. Candidates must specify their availability for the listed coverage dates during initial screening to be considered.

Requirements

• Board certification.
• Active Kentucky medical license and DEA registration; an IMLC license may be considered for candidates available 3–7 days per month.
• ACLS certification.
• Availability for specified coverage dates must be provided during initial screening.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient interventional cardiology coverage on the stated dates.
• Perform 24-hour on-call shifts from 7 AM to 7 AM, 3–7 days per month.
• Handle EMTALA call responsibilities and respond to all cardiology-related calls within the hospital.
• Perform balloon angioplasties, coronary angioplasty, percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), heart catheterization, and coronary angiograms.
• Conduct general cardiology consultations as required.
• Interpret EKGs, echocardiograms, and stress tests, including nuclear stress tests.
• Provide care to adult patients in an inpatient setting.
