Under general supervision, the Physician is accountable for the clinical management of patients. This role involves assuming responsibility for the initial evaluation and treatment of patients, performing histories and physicals, documenting in the Electronic Medical Record, and writing standard orders in accordance with hospital policy. The physician will also evaluate patient progress, alter treatment modalities as needed, and assess medical, social, and educational needs. Referrals to ancillary departments and community resources will be initiated based on patient needs. Progress notes will be written for each visit, documenting patient progress and treatment plans. The physician will establish medical diagnoses, make immediate referrals for acute or life-threatening conditions, and perform activities to meet patient/family educational needs, including health teaching and planning home care instructions. The role also requires utilizing opportunities for educational advancement, pursuing activities for continued certification, and attending mandatory in-service training.
