About The Position

M Health Fairview Ridges Hospital is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Internal Medicine physician to join its Hospitalist team. The role provides care for hospitalized patients across the full scope of Internal Medicine, including management of complex medical illnesses and patients in an open ICU from admission through discharge, within the physician’s comfort level. Intensivists, nephrologists, and pulmonologists are available to assist with ICU management. The Hospitalist group has collegial relationships with the hospital’s specialty groups. The position follows a six-days-on/six-days-off block schedule, with rotating in-house evening and night coverage. The schedule includes day, evening, and night work, and holidays and weekends are divided equally among physicians. Hospitalists care for patients who are unassigned from the emergency department and round on inpatients of physicians whose practices focus on outpatient care. They also manage the Observation Unit, admit, treat, and discharge observation patients, and work with and oversee Hospitalist Physician Assistants. Code Blue responsibilities occur on weekdays during the day. Procedures are optional; other specialists and departments can perform procedures such as line placement, injections, and aspirations. M Health Fairview Ridges Hospital is a 150-bed licensed facility serving Burnsville, Minnesota, and surrounding communities. The team includes 26 Hospitalist physicians and 6 Hospitalist Advanced Practice Providers. The hospital uses a fully integrated EPIC electronic medical record. This is a 1.0 FTE position.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited ACGME Internal Medicine residency training program.
Board certified or board prepared with the American Board of Medical Specialties or American Osteopathic Association.
Licensed or able to obtain Minnesota Board of Medical Practice licensure.
Ability to obtain and/or maintain DEA certification for the State of Minnesota.
Meet threshold criteria and qualifications for credentialing and privileges.
ACLS certification required.

Responsibilities

Provide inpatient care across the full scope of Internal Medicine, including management of complex medical illnesses and ICU patients from admission through discharge.
Provide care for hospitalized patients, including rotating in-house evening and night coverage.
Follow and treat patients who are unassigned from the emergency department.
Round on hospitalized patients for physicians who focus on outpatient care and contract with the Hospitalist group.
Manage the Observation Unit and admit, treat, and discharge patients admitted to observation status.
Work with and oversee Hospitalist Physician Assistants.
Perform weekday daytime Code Blue responsibilities.
Perform procedures optionally; other specialists and departments are available for procedures such as line placement, injections, and aspirations.
