Locum - Physician - Hospitalist - OB
About The Position
This position is for a Hospitalist Physician specializing in Obstetrics, practicing within a Labor and Delivery and Obstetrics/Gynecology environment. The role involves providing physician coverage from 7 AM to 7 PM, with on-call duties for midwives from 7 PM to 7 AM. The practice focuses on managing both low-risk and high-risk pregnancies, performing various obstetrical procedures including routine and complicated deliveries, C-sections, breech births, multiple births, abruptions, VBACs, and repair of third and fourth-degree lacerations. Gynecological procedures include laparoscopic diagnostics/minor procedures and open surgical gynecology. The facility is equipped with an onsite laboratory and ultrasound, and support staff includes Registered Nurses and Certified Nurse Midwives. The Electronic Medical Record System used is Epic. The nursery level is III.
Requirements
- Board Certified or Board Eligible
- ACLS, BLS, PALS certification highly preferred; must obtain during the credentialing process
- Ohio Medical License (candidates willing to obtain a license will be considered)
- A self-query NPDB report required at the time of presentation (must be generated within the last 30 days)

Responsibilities
- Management of Low-Risk Pregnancies (e.g., history of twins, toxemia, pyelonephritis)
- Management of High-Risk Pregnancies (e.g., with toxemia, diabetes, Class II or higher cardiac conditions, chronic pulmonary issues, chronic renal disease)
- Routine Vaginal Deliveries, Low Forceps Use
- Decision-Making for Cesarean Sections
- Complicated Deliveries including C-Sections, Breech, Multiple Births, Abruptions
- VBACs
- Repair of Third and Fourth Degree Lacerations
- Laparoscopic Diagnostics/Minor Procedures (e.g., Tubal Ligation, Laparoscopic Ovarian Ablation, Chromopertubation)
- Surgical Gynecology: Open procedures only
- Provide physician coverage from 7 AM to 7 PM
- Provide on-call coverage for midwives from 7 PM to 7 AM
