Physician (Gastroenterology)

About The Position

The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) is hiring a full-time physician for its Gastroenterology Division. The role includes outpatient clinic services, including fellows’ clinic, and proficiency in standard endoscopy procedures. Advanced endoscopy procedures may be performed depending on the physician’s interests and expertise. The GI service also provides some remote care through telehealth and video visits; subspecialists are not required to travel to affiliated rural clinics. The hospitalist service reduces inpatient-care demands on subspecialty divisions, and the division has excellent facilities and equipment. The physician will participate in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows through the University of Arizona affiliation. Candidates must be eligible for a University of Arizona facility appointment commensurate with clinical experience and academic achievement. Opportunities are available for clinical research and collaboration. Investigators with VA Merit Review Awards may receive up to 35% protected research time. The incumbent is expected to participate actively in quality improvement, comply with agency, facility, department, VA, and SAVAHCS requirements, and support satisfactory supervision and training of University of Arizona trainees rotating through the GI Division. GI staff must maintain American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certification. The position is based at a tertiary-care facility and teaching affiliate of the University of Arizona. The announcement describes a competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases, federal benefits, and no Physician Employment Contract or significant restriction on moonlighting. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
