Physician Emergency and Acute Care Medicine

Colorado Permanente Medical Group•Denver, CO

About The Position

Colorado Permanente Medical Group is seeking board-certified Emergency Medicine physicians with experience in a clinic, hospital, or urgent care setting. The part-time or full-time position serves four urgent care locations in the Denver metro area, including Lone Tree Medical Offices, and physicians must be available to float among locations. Telephone Medicine Center work is also required. Shifts are 8, 10, or 12 hours, with no overnight shifts. If new venues require emergency medicine staffing, the group will staff them; venues may include hospital emergency departments, additional urgent care locations, Clinical Decision Units, or other settings. In urgent care, the physician provides high-quality, efficient care for a wide range of acute conditions, including higher-acuity cases than typically seen in a traditional community urgent care clinic. The role includes rapid assessment, diagnosis, and treatment; focused examinations; ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests; low-risk procedures; stabilization and transfer when needed; and deciding when emergency services are appropriate. Physicians collaborate with advanced practice providers, nurses, radiology staff, and other personnel to provide safe, timely, patient-centered care and support smooth clinic operations. The position also involves telephone-based triage and consultation, including assessing patients who may need emergency-department-level care, supporting providers and nursing staff, coordinating transfers, and advising on care plans. The physician is expected to use evidence-based guidelines and approved procedures, maintain secure electronic medical records, support patient access and experience, and contribute to team operations and clinical initiatives. Colorado Permanente Medical Group has an exclusive, integrated partnership with Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Colorado. Its stated mission is to provide high-quality, affordable health care and improve the health of members and communities. The organization describes its physician culture as collaborative, inclusive, evidence-based, and patient-centered, with state-of-the-art facilities and an Epic-based electronic medical record system. Physicians are supported by professional staff in business operations, scheduling, analytics, human resources, communications, legal, finance, and strategy. CPMG is committed to an inclusive workforce and culturally responsive care. Employment requires staff to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or to have an established qualifying medical or religious exemption. Applicants offered a position must provide proof of vaccination or qualifying exemption before starting employment.
