About The Position

The Physician Center Clerk provides clerical support to the patient care team with minimal supervision and works collaboratively with all staff members of the physician center. The role supports patient check-in, communications, scheduling, records handling, referrals, payments, and end-of-day reconciliation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read, write, and follow verbal instructions.
• Ability to operate office machines, including a personal computer, fax machine, and copier.
• Customer-service orientation.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Basic insurance knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Answer phones and enter phone notes.
• Open and distribute incoming mail and faxes.
• Update demographic information at check-in.
• Scan test results into the electronic medical record.
• Schedule patient appointments in IDX.
• Collect co-payments and outstanding balances.
• Coordinate the referral process.
• Prepare mailings identified by the manager or physician.
• Complete end-of-day duties, including appointment reconciliation and cash accounting.
