About The Position

Works under the supervision of a physician to provide quality treatment, referral, and follow-up care in a medical or hospital setting. The position is based in Radiology at Greenville Memorial Hospital and supports clinic operations and improvement efforts.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a Physician Assistant program approved by an accredited medical body such as CAHEA, the American Medical Association, or the Association of American Medical Colleges.
• NCCPA certification.
• Current Physician Assistant licensure in South Carolina.
• BLS certification.
• Knowledge of a wide variety of medical conditions, diseases, and types of injuries.
• Excellent communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• NCCPA Certificate of Added Qualification in Emergency Medicine (CAQ in EM).

Responsibilities

• Perform health histories, physical examinations, and individual and group health education.
• Order diagnostic laboratory and radiological tests, including CT, MRI, ultrasound, and contrast studies, with physician approval.
• Interpret physical findings, laboratory and X-ray results; make diagnoses; formulate and carry out treatment plans; and prescribe medication in accordance with state licensing laws.
• Refer cases to the immediate supervising physician when a patient's condition is complicated, exceeds the Physician Assistant’s scope of care, or exceeds the level of training.
• Provide emergency care to prevent loss of life, limb, or eyesight, and institute emergency procedures within the level of training.
• Support clinic function by participating in policy development, operational improvement, and implementation of policies and improvements.
