About The Position

Works under the supervision of a physician to provide quality treatment, referral, and follow-up care in a medical or hospital setting. The role is based in Radiology at Greenville Memorial Hospital and supports clinic operations through policy development and operational improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a Physician Assistant program approved by an accredited medical body such as CAHEA, the American Medical Association, or the Association of Medical College.
• No previous experience required.
• NCCPA certification and current Physician Assistant licensure in South Carolina.
• BLS.
• Knowledge of a wide variety of medical conditions, diseases, and types of injuries.
• Excellent communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants Certificate of Added Qualification in Emergency Medicine (NCCPA CAQ in EM).

Responsibilities

• Performs health histories, physical examinations, and individual and group health education.
• Orders diagnostic laboratory and radiological tests, including CTs, MRIs, ultrasound, and contrast studies, with physician approval.
• Interprets physical findings, laboratory and x-ray results; makes diagnoses; formulates and carries out treatment plans; and prescribes medication in accordance with state licensing laws.
• Refers cases to the immediate supervising physician when patient conditions are complicated, exceed the Physician Assistant’s limit of care, or exceed the Physician Assistant’s level of training.
• Provides emergency care to prevent loss of life, limb, or eyesight and institutes emergency procedures in accordance with level of training.
• Supports clinic function by participating in policy development, operational improvement, and implementation of policies and improvements.
