About The Position

OrthoCarolina is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant to work with a provider at its Concord office. The Physician Assistant provides medical care as delegated by OrthoCarolina physicians. Work may take place in the office and hospital, including independent clinics, operating-room assistance, and emergency-room and inpatient consultations.

Requirements

Graduate of an AMA-accredited physician assistant program.
Current North Carolina PA license.
PA experience required.

Orthopedic experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Examine patients, conduct comprehensive physical examinations, and compile medical data, including health history and examination results.
Administer or order diagnostic tests, such as X-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory tests, and interpret results in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons and staff.
Perform therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care, and infection management.
Assess, apply, and/or remove orthopedic casts, splints, and immobilization devices.
Serve as an assist-at-surgery for orthopedic procedures.
Develop and implement patient management plans, record progress notes, apply appropriate service codes and charges, and help provide continuity of care.
Dictate and document patient records, including discharge summaries, history and physical evaluations, operative procedure notes, consultations, and office visit notes; use a computer to access and enter data.
Round on hospital inpatients at assigned hospitals as directed by supervising physicians and perform emergency-room and floor consultations as assigned.
Evaluate patient problems in person or by phone and provide appropriate advice, intervention, or referral.
Evaluate and revise care plans based on changes in patients’ conditions.
