Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant degree program
  • Active and unrestricted PA license in the State of Massachusetts
  • Current active DEA licensure/prescriptive authority or ability to obtain post-hire, per state regulations
  • Current active Mass DPH Controlled Substances Registration or ability to obtain post-hire, per state regulations
  • Two years of experience in Dermatology
  • Maintains BLS certification, professional certification as appropriate

Responsibilities

  • Performs physical assessments on patients with specialized conditions in Dermatology.
  • Determines urgent versus emergent problems and triages patients to appropriate specialty physicians.
  • Assesses and treats patients with support from other physician colleagues.
  • May develop and implement a plan of care for these patients, as well as prescribe medications, exercises and/or other treatments.
  • Performs minor operative procedures including suturing and lesion excision.
  • Collaborates with the physician in the management of patient care.
  • Such support may include ordering and interpreting laboratory work and other diagnostic studies, assisting the physician in operative procedures, performing pre-operative histories and physical exams, and maintaining continuity of care through the exchange of information with outside health and social agencies.
