About The Position

Hartford Healthcare is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Surgical Subspecialties team at Backus Hospital. The Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) will be an essential part of the multidisciplinary team that plans and delivers care for a wide variety of surgical patients encompassing numerous subspecialties including elective general surgery, colorectal, bariatrics, vascular, thoracic, plastics, gynecologic-oncology, and neurosurgery. This APP-led team is involved in all aspects of surgical care such as managing surgical inpatients, admissions and consultations, operative first-assist , and bedside procedures.

Requirements

Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible)
Physician Assistant training

2+ years of inpatient surgery experience as a Physician Assistant

Managing surgical inpatients

Perform routine physical examinations
Formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients
Develop plans for further evaluation of health needs
Provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider’s practice
Identify problems outside of their scope of practice and refers appropriately to physician
