About The Position

The Physician Assistant provides comprehensive medical care to inmates under the supervision of medical leadership. The role includes evaluating and treating acute and emergency complaints, participating in administrative meetings, and supporting cross-coverage needs. The PA collaborates with physicians and mental health professionals, ensures clinical documentation and treatment align with protocols, maintains patient privacy, and contributes to quality improvement activities. The position also involves coordinating emergency care and supporting psychiatric assessments.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited education program for physician assistants.
• Previous correctional or detention facility experience.
• At least two years of experience.
• Unrestricted current license, certification, or registration in the state of practice.
• Maintain all required certifications, educational requirements, and licensing.
• Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration.
• Current and maintained lifesaving BLS and PALS certification through the AHA, where applicable.
• Must reside in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Deliver acute and emergency medical care in accordance with protocols.
• Consult with physicians and manage patient transfers when clinically indicated.
• Document findings using the S.O.A.P. method and EMR systems.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and participate in quality improvement efforts.
• Provide cross-coverage and support psychiatric stability assessments.
• Participate in administrative meetings and collaborate with physicians and mental health professionals.
