About The Position

CMG Brain and Spine is expanding and seeking a skilled and motivated Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to play a key role in the care of patients with complex cerebrovascular and neurovascular conditions across the continuum of care. This position offers the opportunity to work in a high-acuity, procedure-driven specialty alongside fellowship-trained Neuroendovascular surgeons in a collaborative, team-based environment. Centra Medical Group (CMG) is a comprehensive network of nearly 600 employed providers within Centra Health, serving a population of 600,000 community members with 70 different outpatient and specialty practices across Central and Southern Virginia. CMG includes family practices, specialists, and surgeons in various fields. CMG is also home to the Lynchburg Family Medicine Residency program. Requirements

  • Masters Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant School
  • Current licensure by the State of Virginia as a Physician Assistant
  • ACLS (required only for LFM)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in Neuro ICU or ER preferred

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with cerebrovascular and neurovascular conditions (e.g., ischemic stroke, intracranial aneurysms, AVMs, carotid disease)
  • Provide inpatient care including: Pre- and post-procedural assessments, Daily rounding in ICU and step-down units, Coordination of care with neurology, neurosurgery, critical care, and nursing teams
  • See follow-up patients in clinic setting
  • Assist with neurointerventional procedures as appropriate
  • Participate in stroke alerts and neurovascular call coverage
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging
  • Perform procedures within scope of practice
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and follow-up care
  • Document care in the electronic medical record in a timely and accurate manner
  • Assisting during stroke code
