About The Position

Panorama Orthopedics & Spine Center is seeking a Physician Assistant to provide as-needed surgical-assist coverage for surgeons who do not have an assistant scheduled. The role provides first-assistant coverage in the operating room across orthopedic subspecialties and includes pre-operative patient assessments, clinical orders, discharge documentation, and timely and accurate EMR documentation. Previous orthopedic surgical experience is required. The position is PRN, with compensation of $75–$85 per hour based on experience.

Requirements

• Active Physician Assistant license in the State of Colorado.
• Active DEA registration to prescribe.
• Previous orthopedic surgical experience.
• Strong clinical skills.
• Strong critical-thinking skills and the ability to synthesize data to determine medical treatment plans.
• Ability to assess patient conditions and make treatment plans.
• Strong communication skills for gathering pertinent information and providing organized, succinct, clear information to supervising physicians.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.
• Ability to handle flexible scheduling.
• Ability to stand for long hours.

Nice To Haves

• Two years of previous experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide surgical first-assistant coverage in the operating room for multiple surgeons across orthopedic subspecialties.
• Suture multilayer wound closures independently.
• Issue orders for medications, treatments, and laboratory tests.
• Perform pre-operative patient histories and physicals.
• Write discharge summaries.
• Document all patient-care actions in the EMR accurately and promptly.
• Assess patients’ conditions and develop treatment plans.
• Communicate pertinent patient and treatment information clearly to supervising physicians and other staff.
