About The Position

The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Hypertension at Brigham and Women’s Hospital seeks a general endocrinology Physician Assistant to provide care as part of an interdisciplinary team. Under the direction of supervising physicians, the PA evaluates and treats endocrine patients and manages a patient panel, including planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating care. The PA sees ambulatory patients independently while partnering with the patient care team and practice leaders to support patient, departmental, and organizational goals. The position includes eight four-hour clinic sessions per week. The usual schedule is a predictable daytime schedule of four 10-hour days when possible, though variations may occur to meet clinical needs. The PA may be asked to take call, pick up additional shifts, work variable hours, or provide backup coverage. Clinical responsibilities include care for patients with thyroid, bone and mineral, adrenal, hypertension, reproductive, and other endocrine disorders. This includes monitoring treatment responses and side effects, adjusting thyroid hormone doses, reviewing tests and imaging, determining whether thyroid biopsies are needed, supporting osteoporosis treatment monitoring, and following patients after procedures or medication changes. The role also includes quality monitoring and improvement activities, use of patient-outcome data, and presenting team-based care results to relevant audiences. Work is primarily in ambulatory clinics and may also take place in treatment rooms, inpatient areas, intensive care units, operating rooms, or procedural areas. The environment may involve noise, unpleasant odors, temperature extremes, prolonged standing or walking, heavy lifting, exposure to radiation, potentially infectious bodily fluids, and sharp instruments. The role is in a fast-paced, dynamic setting with a large and complex patient volume.
