UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital is a world-renowned leader in healthcare, recognized for innovation, technology, and compassionate care. It is ranked among the top children's hospitals nationally by U.S. News & World Report. The hospital features 183 beds and over 150 specialists across more than 40 medical areas. The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) provides advanced, high-level care for children requiring continuous monitoring, with 20 beds for infants and children with various conditions or recovering from surgery. Annually, over 1,000 children are admitted to the intensive care units, arriving from across the western United States. The Pediatric Transitional Care Unit (TCUP) is an 18-bed unit caring for infants and children with diverse conditions or recovering from surgery. TCUP manages patients with moderate to high disease complexity, including those recovering from solid organ transplantation, requiring anticoagulant therapy titration, post-specialty surgery care (ENT, neurosurgery), and respiratory support (BIPAP, CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, mechanical ventilation with tracheostomy). The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will be an integral team member, collaborating with attending physicians, fellows, and residents to ensure safe patient care delivery. This role involves meeting productivity expectations set by the Division Chief and performing all duties related to patient care activities as appropriate and clearly defined. APPs on the PICU and TCUP Team work rotating 12-hour shifts.
