The Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner provides advanced nursing care to patients of all ages, from infants to older adults. This role involves assessing, diagnosing, treating, and managing acute and chronic illnesses, promoting health and wellness, and working in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare providers. This position is in the Emergency Department and involves the evaluation and treatment of patients presenting to the Emergency Department in collaboration with the attending physician or other ED provider. The role includes obtaining medical histories, performing physical examinations, and developing appropriate assessment and treatment plans. The APP will diagnose and manage acute and urgent medical conditions within their scope of practice, order and interpret appropriate laboratory tests, diagnostic imaging, and other studies. They will perform procedures appropriate to their training, experience, and clinical privileges, and provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care. Collaboration with physicians, nursing staff, and other members of the healthcare team is essential for coordinating patient care. The role also involves assisting with the management and stabilization of emergency and critically ill patients, and arranging appropriate consultations, admissions, transfers, and follow-up care in collaboration with the supervising or collaborating provider.
