About The Position

Northwestern Medicine is hiring a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner for its inpatient Endocrinology department. The APP will care for general endocrinology and diabetes patients and be responsible for the health outcomes of an assigned patient population. The role includes evaluating and managing health problems, coordinating care with collaborating physicians and other health professionals, educating patients and families, and contributing to quality improvement or research initiatives. The schedule is Monday through Friday, four 10-hour shifts. The position includes rotating weekend coverage, including holiday weekends but not the holidays themselves, approximately every six weeks. It also includes non-compensated rotating pager coverage during shifts, with no night coverage, approximately every six weeks. The APP maintains required licensure, certifications, and continuing education; supports and mentors students and staff; participates in committees and education programs as appropriate; and serves as a patient advocate and professional role model. Northwestern Medicine may use AI tools during portions of candidate review, but employment decisions are made by a person. Newly hired team members and, at times, internal transfers undergo a background check.
