Physician Assistant - Emergency Room | Full-Time
About The Position
NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, a leading community and academic medical center with over 135 years of service, is seeking a Physician Assistant for its Emergency Department. The role involves working in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment within a designated Level II Trauma Center and a recognized New York State Stroke Center. The Physician Assistants are respected clinical leaders who provide compassionate, evidence-based care to patients and families during critical moments. The team has been recognized by the American Stroke Association with the Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Plus Achievement Award. This is a full-time position with rotating shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and up to two weekends per month. The position requires on-site presence, and employees must live within a commutable distance to NYP.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1–2 years of Emergency Department experience as a Physician Assistant
- Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current New York State Physician Assistant License
- Current NCCPA Certification
- Current ACLS and BLS Certifications
- New York State Infection Control Certification
Responsibilities
- Patient assessment, triage, and management
- Emergency resuscitation and stabilization
- Fast Track evaluation and treatment
- Performing emergency procedures, including: Intubation, Chest tube insertion, Central venous line placement, Other advanced bedside procedures
- Development and implementation of treatment plans
- Patient education and discharge planning
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure exceptional patient outcomes
