About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital - Canton is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU care to chronically and critically ill patients who require extended healing and recovery. The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) supports compassionate, excellent treatment for patients during recovery. This PRN/per-diem, as-needed position is located in Canton, Ohio, inside of Aultman, and pays $38.00 per hour. An extensive orientation program supports a smooth transition into the setting. The role may provide potential opportunities to move into a full-time position. Part-time and per-diem employees may qualify for 401(k) eligibility after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year.

Requirements

• Valid state PTA license.
• Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.

Responsibilities

• Assist with delivery of physical therapy services, including patient transportation, therapeutic exercises, and functional activities.
• Implement treatment goals, plans, and programs established by the physical therapist.
• Assist the physical therapist with therapeutic interventions supporting patients’ long-term goals, including strengthening, coordination and balance exercises; posture, endurance/cardiac, functional skills, and community re-entry training; joint mobility and muscle lengthening; and pain relief.
• Train patients in locomotion using orthotics, prosthetics, or assistive devices.
