About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital - Canton is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU care to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) helps deliver compassionate treatment to patients during recovery. This is a PRN/per-diem, as-needed position in Canton, Ohio, located inside Aultman, paying $38.00 per hour. The hospital offers an extensive orientation program, and the role may provide potential advancement to full-time opportunities. Part-time and per-diem employees may qualify for 401(k) based on reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year. Requirements

• Valid state PTA license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.

Responsibilities

• Assist with physical therapy services, including patient transportation, therapeutic exercises, and functional activities.
• Implement treatment goals, plans, and programs established by the physical therapist.
• Assist the physical therapist with interventions supporting patients’ long-term goals, including strengthening, coordination, and balance exercises; posture, endurance/cardiac, functional skills, and community re-entry training; joint mobility and muscle lengthening; and pain relief.
• Train patients in locomotion using orthotics, prosthetics, or assistive devices.
