The Physical Therapy Assistant - Acute Rehab Unit - Per Diem - Days position involves demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to treat and care for patients in an assigned area, implementing treatment based on developmental stages, and interpreting patient communication. The role includes administering and instructing patients in treatment plans, assessing effectiveness, and consulting with a Physical Therapist for situations beyond the assistant's scope. Responsibilities also encompass preparing and completing patient records, billing, and documentation, involving patients and families in the plan of care, and conducting patient/family education sessions. The position requires communication and cooperation with physicians, nursing, and other hospital staff, and may involve assisting with the supervision of paraprofessional staff, students, and volunteers. Additionally, the role includes assisting with planning and conducting in-service programs, participating in staff meetings and conferences, and contributing to the departmental Quality Assurance Program. The Physical Therapy Assistant will act as a resource to clinical staff and independently manage complex patients, assisting other staff as needed.
