About The Position

Ivy Rehab is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist (PT) for PRN positions (up to 19 hours/week) in Garden City, NY, specifically for the Full Circle Breast Cancer Recovery Program. This role involves providing specialized physical therapy services to individuals throughout their breast cancer journey and recovery. The program focuses on targeted, individualized treatment designed for the unique needs of breast cancer patients and survivors, going beyond general physical therapy. Requirements

Must be a licensed Physical Therapist (new grads encouraged to apply)

Responsibilities

Restore motion and flexibility after surgery (mastectomy, lumpectomy, reconstruction) by using gentle stretching and movement exercises to improve mobility and prevent stiffness in the shoulder, chest, and arm.
Reduce pain and scar tightness through manual techniques, soft-tissue work, and mobility exercises to lessen discomfort, loosen scar tissue, and improve comfort around surgical sites.
Provide strengthening programs to rebuild muscle and support daily activity and functional fitness, addressing weakness caused by cancer treatments (surgery, chemo, radiation).
Improve posture and function by addressing posture changes resulting from surgery, pain, and compensatory movement patterns to reduce long-term issues affecting the shoulders and spine.
Engage in lymphedema prevention and management by teaching precautions and exercises to minimize swelling and aid lymph drainage, especially after lymph node removal.
Support patients during treatment, including chemotherapy or radiation, by addressing fatigue, balance issues, and weakness to help them remain as active and comfortable as possible.
Provide personalized care at every stage of a patient's journey, from diagnosis through long-term survivorship, tailoring programs to individual goals and recovery timelines.
