Respite Recreation Counselor (Garden City, NY)
About The Position
The Respite/Recreation Direct Support Professional will report to the Program Leader. The Respite/Recreation DSP will be responsible to assist in the development and implementation of all Respite/Recreation activities as well as provide direct support assistance including ADL's and direct support to all recreation participants. The shift available at this location (Garden City) is: 16 hours per week (Saturday & Sunday 9:00am-5:00pm). Requirements
- Valid driver's license
- HS diploma/GED

- Some experience with the IDD population
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and implementation of all Respite/Recreation activities.
- Provide direct support assistance including ADL's and direct support to all recreation participants.
- Provide direct support to individuals attending programs while at recreation outings.
- Provide direct support with ADL's and feeding for people who require assistance.
- Provide ongoing communication with families regarding transportation, participation in activities and program updates.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
