About The Position
Amedisys, part of the Optum family of businesses, provides home health, hospice, and community-based services. The Per Diem Physical Therapist provides skilled physical therapy services to patients in their homes to promote mobility, restore function, improve strength and balance, and enhance safety and independence. The therapist works collaboratively with patients, caregivers, and an interdisciplinary care team to support recovery, prevent hospitalizations, and improve quality of life in the home setting. The position offers pay through a combination of per-visit-point compensation for visits and hourly pay for certain non-visit activities. Compensation varies based on factors including local labor markets, education, work experience, productivity, and performance. The stated annual total cash target assumes full-time employment at full productivity; this role is described as per diem. Benefits are subject to eligibility requirements.
Requirements
- Current license to practice physical therapy in the state assigned.
- Graduate of an accredited physical therapy educational program approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
- At least 1 year of related physical therapy experience for PTs entering home health care, to ensure knowledge and skills are sufficient to safely provide services.
- If experience is less than 1 year, approval from regional clinical leaders is required, along with appropriate mentoring and/or participation in a residency program.
- Current CPR certification.
- Driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
Responsibilities
- Help patients maintain, restore, and improve movement, activity, and function.
- Provide interventions, conduct reexaminations at least every 30 days, modify interventions as necessary, and perform discharge planning.
