Physical Therapist - PRN New Castle County
About The Position
Amedisys, part of the Optum family of businesses, provides home health, hospice, and community-based services. The Physical Therapist provides skilled physical therapy services to patients in their homes to promote mobility, restore function, improve strength and balance, and enhance safety and independence. The role collaborates with patients, caregivers, and an interdisciplinary care team to support recovery, prevent hospitalizations, and improve quality of life in the home setting. The role offers per-visit-point and hourly compensation, depending on the work performed. Visits are assigned according to patient and business needs, and visit pay is calculated using the per-visit-point rate and productivity points. Hourly pay applies to certain non-visit activities, such as orientation. The annual total cash compensation estimate assumes full-time employment at 40 weekly hours and full productivity. Compensation may vary based on factors including local labor markets, education, work experience, productivity, and performance. Benefits are subject to eligibility requirements.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited physical therapy educational program recognized by the Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
- Hold a current physical therapy license for the state assigned.
- Hold current CPR certification.
- Have at least one year of related physical therapy experience when entering home health care, to ensure sufficient knowledge and skills to safely provide services.
- If experience is less than one year, obtain approval from regional clinical leaders and receive appropriate mentoring and/or participate in a residency program.
Responsibilities
- Help patients maintain, restore, and improve movement, activity, and function.
- Provide interventions and conduct reexaminations at least every 30 days.
- Modify interventions as necessary.
- Perform discharge planning.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
