Occupational Therapist - FT/PT/PRN New Castle County
About The Position
Amedisys, part of the Optum family of businesses, provides home health, hospice, and community-based services. The Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats patients in their homes to promote independence, safety, and improved quality of life. The role helps individuals regain or maintain daily living skills following illness, injury, or functional decline. The therapist collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to develop individualized treatment plans in accordance with physician orders and agency policies. The Occupational Therapist is responsible for occupational therapy services delivered under a physician-approved plan of care, including ensuring the plan addresses assessment-identified problems or documenting why they are not addressed. The role is accountable for safe and effective service delivery, timely and accurate documentation, and supervising the home health aide when an RN is not active in the case. Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- Current occupational therapy license for the state of assignment.
- Graduate of an occupational therapy program accredited by ACOTE of AOTA, or a successor organization of ACOTE.
- Eligible to take, or have successfully completed, the NBCOT entry-level certification examination for occupational therapists.
- One year of related occupational therapy experience; candidates with less than one year require approval from regional clinical leaders and appropriate mentoring and/or a residency program.
- Current CPR certification.
Responsibilities
- Provide occupational therapy services under a physician-approved plan of care.
- Ensure the plan of care addresses problems identified in the assessment, or document the rationale for any identified problems not addressed.
- Ensure the safety and effectiveness of occupational therapy service delivery.
- Complete documentation accurately and on time.
- Supervise the home health aide when an RN is not active in the case.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
