About The Position

Amedisys is hiring a PRN Home Health Aide to provide in-home support to patients in New Castle County. The role supports patients in healing and living comfortably at home by assisting with personal care, meals, light homemaking, prescribed exercises, and maintaining a safe environment. The aide monitors and reports patient condition changes, follows the plan of care and care center procedures, and responds appropriately to emergencies.

The posted pay range is $15.50–$18.75 per hour. Benefit eligibility may vary by position and shift status; participation in certain benefits requires enrollment in an Amedisys medical plan.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current state certification or registration as a nurse assistant, according to state certification or registration requirements.
• CNA experience within the last two years; if experience was more than two years ago, complete another training and competency program before providing services.
• Successfully pass the care center competency program.
• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patients’ temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respiration.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment.
• Assist patients with getting in and out of bed, bathing, hygiene, and toileting.
• Prepare and provide meals and/or assist patients with meals.
• Perform light homemaking and other environmental services.
• Observe, report, and document changes in patient status.
• Understand basic elements of body functioning and report changes in patient body functions as indicated.
• Recognize emergency situations and implement appropriate emergency procedures according to care center policy.
• Follow care center procedures for infection prevention and control, hazardous waste handling, and safety measures.
• Follow specific written personal-care instructions in accordance with the plan of care.
• Assist patients with prescribed exercises as instructed by a nurse or therapist.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
