Physical Therapist (PT) Acute Care PRN
About The Position
Inova Fairfax Hospital is seeking a Physical Therapist to join its Acute Care team in a PRN/as-needed role. The position requires at least 16 hours per month, including at least one weekend day, one holiday, and two support days per year. The therapist evaluates and treats patients according to their diagnosis, age group, and physical and emotional status, and develops appropriate treatment plans. The role also involves using treatment modalities, equipment, and protocols; performing re-evaluations and adjusting treatment plans; completing documentation according to department guidelines; and communicating with patients, families, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors, and outside contacts. Additional duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy.
- Virginia Physical Therapist License or Physical Therapist compact privileges required upon start.
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association required upon start.
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree in Physical Therapy or Doctor of Physical Therapy degree.
- One year of acute care Physical Therapist experience.
Responsibilities
- Select evaluations and treatment methods appropriate to each patient's diagnosis, age group, and physical and emotional status, and formulate appropriate treatment plans.
- Demonstrate essential skill competencies in the use of treatment modalities, equipment, and protocols.
- Perform re-evaluations according to department guidelines and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
- Complete written evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries according to department requirements for timeframe, form, and content.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors, and outside contacts.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
