About The Position

The intern will shadow a Physical Therapist and assist with participating in direct physical therapy treatments to address deficits and meet treatment goals. This role involves providing objective information for re-assessment, developing and monitoring Physical Support Plans, and participating in wheelchair and orthotics clinics. The intern will also develop home programs, provide consultation and in-service training, ensure proper documentation, and support individuals in achieving their personal goals. Learning and adhering to all policies, procedures, and the Strategic Plan is essential. The position requires providing individualized services to meet the treatment needs of specialty intermediate care (IC) clinic patients and meeting specific regulatory requirements.

Requirements

Currently attending an accredited school working towards a degree in Physical Therapy or related field.

Responsibilities

Conduct direct physical therapy treatments to address deficits and meet treatment goals.
Provide objective information to re-assess at least quarterly to determine effectiveness of the treatment plan and the continued need for services.
Develop, train and monitor Physical Support Plans.
Participate in regularly scheduled wheelchair and orthotics clinics.
Develop home programs including exercise, standing and positioning.
Provide consultation and in-service training with staff.
Ensure proper documentation of services.
Provide supports to facilitate individuals achieving their personal goals.
Learn and follow all policies and procedures.
Comply with all aspects of the Strategic Plan.
Provide individualized services to meet the treatment needs of each of the specialty intermediate care (IC) clinic patients for services in field of care.
Meet requirements of 902 KAR 20:410 Specialty Intermediate Care Clinics as warranted.
