About The Position

MUSC Health Black River Medical Center is seeking a full-time Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join their rehab team in Cades, SC. The PTA II reports to the Physical Therapist and provides optimal patient care by implementing a physical therapy program based on age-specific needs. This role functions under the general supervision of a Physical Therapist and supervises PTA students, providing clinical education experiences. Patient populations served include infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric for a variety of diagnoses such as neurologic, orthopedic, post-surgical, pediatric, and medically complex, in both inpatient and outpatient settings throughout the hospital system.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
Less than one year experience as a physical therapy assistant.
Physical Therapy Assistant by the South Carolina Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.

Responsibilities

Provides optimal patient care by implementing a physical therapy program to individuals based upon age-specific needs utilizing a developmental and patient/family directed approach.
Under the general supervision of a Physical Therapist I, II, or III, functions as a staff physical therapist assistant.
Supervises PTA students and provides clinical education experiences.
