About The Position

The practice of physical therapy includes assessment, treatment, planning, implementation, education, communication, and leadership to address patient and family needs, while fostering positive professional relationships. This role may involve caring for patients of all age groups, from infants to seniors, requiring the ability to address their physical and developmental needs. The Director of the department is responsible for updating policies and procedures to meet regulatory requirements and demonstrating leadership within the department. This includes accountability for staffing and maintaining adequate coverage for efficient, effective, and quality patient care.

Requirements

  • Current Physical Therapist Assistant Certification
  • BLS Certified

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care, evaluates functional needs and outcomes, and consults with other specialists as needed.
  • Reassesses patients' functional needs and adjusts care plans to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Designs and implements a plan of care for the patient and significant others based on a thorough assessment.
  • Conducts therapy practice within defined standards of care.
  • Directs the practice of support staff to achieve patients' functional goals.
  • Communicates effectively with other professional and support staff to achieve positive patient outcomes.
  • Promotes and contributes to a positive, problem-solving environment.
  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Documents evaluations, treatment goals, and plans.
  • Regularly updates documentation and maintains all required prescriptions and signatures.
  • Enhances professional growth and development of self and others through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  • Provides direction and leadership to staff, students, and new graduates.
  • Acts as a resource to promote physical therapy within the community.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
