About The Position

Goodwin Living is seeking an experienced PRN Physical Therapist Assistant to provide care to patients in their homes or retirement communities across Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William in Northern Virginia. Under the Plan of Care established by an evaluating Physical Therapist, the PTA provides physical therapy treatments to improve patients’ functional abilities and safety, reduce pain, and improve quality of life. The role offers autonomy in planning patient schedules and one-on-one care. Pay is $50 per visit.

Requirements

• Hold a current Virginia Physical Therapy Assistant license.
• Be certified in adult CPR.
• Demonstrate compassion and empathy and comfort working with at-risk or low-income constituents.
• Be able to deal tactfully and compassionately with clients, family members, and caregivers.

Responsibilities

• Provide physical therapy treatments under a Physical Therapist’s Plan of Care and in accordance with the Commonwealth of Virginia Physical Therapy Practice Act.
• Communicate with the Physical Therapist to clarify the Plan of Care, report patient progress and adverse treatment effects, and report medical decline or inability to follow recommended treatment.
• Suggest changes to or progression of the Plan of Care based on knowledge and experience with the patient.
• Document treatments and services according to Rehab Department protocols and Medicare guidelines.
• Coordinate patient treatment with nursing staff and occupational and speech therapists.
