About The Position

The Physical Therapist Assistant works at UF Health Rehabilitation Hospital - North in Jacksonville, Florida, on a per-diem basis. The hospital provides inpatient rehabilitation for individuals with brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders, orthopedic issues, amputations, and multiple traumas. Under the direct supervision of a licensed physical therapist, the assistant helps implement therapy plans of care, coordinates supportive personnel for assigned patients, communicates with the supervising therapist about patient assessment and treatment needs, and participates in education. The role includes an extensive orientation program and may provide an opportunity to pursue full-time employment.

Requirements

• Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
• Certified BLS, or completion of BLS within the first 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementing therapy plans of care under the direct supervision of a licensed physical therapist.
• Delegate and direct supportive personnel assigned to patients to enhance patient care services.
• Communicate consistently with the supervising physical therapist about scheduled patients and needs for assessment, reassessment, treatment-plan modification, or other interventions requiring therapist direction.
• Participate in educating patients, families, students, coworkers, and self.
• Perform other professional duties associated with patient care within the scope of practice.
