About The Position

TRU Healthcare is seeking a per-diem Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to provide in-home care to patients across the Twin Cities Metro area. The role supports patients in regaining mobility, strength, balance, confidence, and functional independence. PTAs provide skilled services under the direction of a supervising Physical Therapist and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to support positive patient outcomes. This is a per-visit position paying $55–$62 per completed patient visit, with mileage reimbursement. The schedule is flexible: the PTA can choose how many visits to accept and arrange work around their schedule, without committing to a traditional full-time caseload. The posting states potential yearly earnings of up to $80,000.

Requirements

Current, valid Minnesota PTA license.
CPR/BLS certification.
Ability to travel throughout the Twin Cities Metro area.
Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between patient visits.
Strong communication, organization, and clinical skills.
A genuine desire to help patients live more independently.

Nice To Haves

Previous home health and/or outpatient experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide skilled physical therapy services under the direction of a supervising Physical Therapist.
Implement individualized treatment plans focused on mobility, strength, balance, and functional independence.
Monitor patient progress and communicate changes in condition to the supervising PT and care team.
Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, safe mobility, fall prevention, and appropriate use of assistive devices.
Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation.
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to support positive patient outcomes.
Travel between patient visits throughout the Twin Cities Metro area.
