About The Position

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Physician Recovery is not a discharge date. It is the difference between a patient who leaves dependent and one who walks, works, and lives on their own terms. As the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Physician, you will own that difference—setting the functional plan, aligning the team, and measuring whether people actually get better. This role matters because delayed decisions, fragmented orders, and vague goals cost patients mobility, dignity, and time.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. and completion of an accredited Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency.
  • Board certification or active board eligibility in PM&R, plus a current or obtainable state medical license.
  • Proven management of complex neurologic, musculoskeletal, or medically complex rehabilitation patients.
  • Procedural skill matched to the service, such as joint or soft-tissue injection, botulinum toxin, or electrodiagnosis.
  • Clear communication and timely documentation with patients, families, and referring clinicians.
  • Eligibility for hospital privileges and DEA registration where medications are part of care.

Responsibilities

  • Complete timely, function-focused evaluations that produce a clear diagnosis, prognosis, and rehabilitation plan patients and families can act on.
  • Lead interdisciplinary rounds so therapy, nursing, and case management execute one coordinated plan and discharge goals stay realistic and met.
  • Cut preventable setbacks—falls, pressure injury, uncontrolled pain, and avoidable readmissions—through early orders, follow-up, and escalation.
  • Deliver indicated procedures, including injections, spasticity management, or electrodiagnosis, with documented functional benefit.
  • Close the loop with referring physicians so consults, transitions, and post-acute handoffs are complete and safe.
  • Improve at least one care pathway each year using outcome, length-of-stay, and patient-function data.
  • Raise team standard by teaching residents, therapists, or advanced practice clinicians in daily practice.
