About The Position

Reiz Tech is an end-to-end IT advisor with a growing global presence in more than 30 countries and regions. Its teams work remotely, with decentralized leadership to support communication, decision-making, and flexibility.

The Mid PHP Developer joins the Development team to support the growth of a fintech product. The role involves designing, building, and scaling high-performance backend systems, taking ownership of complex technical solutions, contributing to architectural decisions, and delivering secure, robust, maintainable code aligned with fintech standards. Applications are open to candidates from the European Union.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional software development experience.
• Expert-level knowledge of PHP 8.x and modern development practices.
• At least 5 years of experience with Laravel or Symfony and a deep understanding of the framework.
• Strong experience with MySQL or MariaDB, including query optimization, schema design, and normalization.
• Solid understanding of REST API design principles.
• Proficiency with Git, including branching strategies, code reviews, and release workflows.
• Experience with PHPUnit and defining test strategies.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized production environments.
• Strong knowledge of caching strategies and performance optimization.
• Experience setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines; GitHub is preferred.
• Solid understanding of Composer and dependency management.
• Comfort working in Linux/CLI environments.
• Strong understanding of web application security best practices.
• Ability to independently design and architect solutions.
• Strong problem-solving mindset focused on maintainability and scalability.
• Confidence challenging requirements and proposing alternatives.
• Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Experience leading initiatives or small teams.
• Strong written communication skills in asynchronous environments.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in fintech or financial services.
• Frontend development skills with Vue.js or React.
• Experience with cloud platforms; Azure is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems using PHP 8.x and Symfony.
• Work with legacy and modern codebases to ensure stability, performance, and continuous improvement.
• Analyze, understand, and maintain code independently, using AI tools as a supporting resource rather than a primary dependency.
• Architect robust, secure, high-performing solutions aligned with fintech standards.
• Build and maintain REST APIs with appropriate versioning and backward compatibility.
• Optimize MySQL/MariaDB performance, including query tuning, schema design, and migrations.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and Docker-based environments.
• Ensure code quality through unit, integration, and feature testing strategies, as well as code reviews.
• Apply SOLID principles, design patterns, and clean architecture in everyday development.
• Monitor application performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations.
• Apply security best practices, including OWASP guidance, secure authentication flows, data protection, and GDPR compliance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Mentor junior and mid-level developers through code reviews and technical guidance.
• Contribute to technical decisions, constructively challenge requirements, and promote best practices.
