About The Position

White Rock Medical Center is a community-based hospital serving Dallas, Garland, Mesquite, and surrounding areas. The Phone Operator supports the PBX helpdesk by answering and routing calls and assists with IT Helpdesk functions. The position is a dual role consisting of approximately 60% PBX work and 40% IT Helpdesk work. The successful candidate is expected to have a pleasant attitude, a willingness to learn, and a dependable and responsible approach.

The role requires weekend availability and may involve rotating and overnight shifts. The posting’s title specifies Saturday and Sunday, 7 AM to 7 PM.

Requirements

• One year of experience working in a healthcare environment with a PBX switchboard.
• Six months of experience in an entry-level IT Helpdesk role.
• GED or high school diploma.
• Availability for weekends, rotating shifts, and overnight shifts.

• Some college.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls and route them to the correct department or extension.
• Conduct emergency communications with fire and emergency response units.
• Document IT matters and troubleshoot IT-related issues with guidance.
• Prioritize calls to the CODE phone over all other calls.
• Train on the PBX system and existing VoIP platform.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.
• Provide consistent, responsive customer service and follow AIDET principles.
• Follow HIPAA guidelines, patient rights policy, and the compliance program.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the role in a disaster, hospital emergency codes, fire procedures, and fire drills.
• Follow standard precautions in the clinical setting and safely manage the environment of care, including applicable life safety, utilities, hazardous materials, emergency preparedness, safety, medical equipment, and security programs.
