About The Position

Saint Alphonsus Health System is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician/Central Processing Tech for its Medical Center in Boise, Idaho. This is an as-needed/PRN role with various shifts and days. Evening, night, and weekend shifts receive additional pay differential. The position does not offer insurance benefits or paid time off. Under the general direction of a supervisor, the technician collects blood samples, correctly identifies patients, transports specimens, and performs related clerical and computer functions. The role involves registering and ordering tests, collecting, labeling, and processing specimens, and distributing them for laboratory testing for patients of all ages. The technician uses relevant computer programs and performs data entry, serves as the laboratory’s central communication point for incoming requests, maintains the quality and quantity of specimens sent to reference laboratories, and reports results received.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to communicate effectively with patients and hospital staff.
Good working knowledge of medical terminology and computers.

Nice To Haves

Phlebotomy certification.
Experience in phlebotomy in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities
