About The Position

Prepares patient specimens for analysis and/or provides technical support for a specific clinical service or program. The position performs specimen processing procedures and provides quality control and equipment maintenance. It may support daily operations, troubleshoot issues, participate in special projects, and assist with teaching.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; a higher-level degree may satisfy this requirement.
• No professional experience required.
• No licensure or certification required.

• Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Consults or confers with healthcare providers and/or the laboratory supervisor regarding specimen suitability, procedures, media preparation, or instrument function checks.
• Investigates and troubleshoots problems with equipment, procedures, specimens, reagents, and/or workflow.
• May assist in teaching Clinical Laboratory Science students, Pathology residents, fellows, visiting scientists, and/or new employees.
• May monitor daily operation of a specific clinical service or program.
• May participate on teams or perform special projects or assignments.
• Performs specimen processing procedures.
• Provides quality control and equipment maintenance.
