About The Position
The Phlebotomist obtains inpatient blood specimens, processes laboratory specimens for clinical analysis, and provides patient information to the appropriate caregiver. This work contributes to the diagnosis, treatment, and care of patients. The position is based at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, Connecticut, and is scheduled for 40 hours on the evening shift, including every other weekend and rotating holidays. The employee must train in EPIC on the day shift.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- At least one year of phlebotomy experience in a blood draw station, ambulatory care, or acute care setting.
- Must be able to train in EPIC on the day shift.
Nice To Haves
- National Phlebotomy Certification preferred.
Responsibilities
- Identify patients properly according to policy and perform venipuncture using standard or butterfly methods.
- Label all specimens according to laboratory policy.
- Receive, cancel, order, and process laboratory and microbiology specimens.
