About The Position
Saint Mary's Hospital is hiring a Phlebotomist for its Inpatient Lab Team in Waterbury, Connecticut. The role obtains in-house blood specimens, processes laboratory specimens for clinical analysis, and provides patient information to the appropriate caregiver. This work contributes to the diagnosis, treatment, and care of patients. The position is 40 hours per week on the day shift, with every-other-weekend and rotating-holiday coverage. Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of a phlebotomy training program.
Nice To Haves
- National Phlebotomy Certification is preferred.
- Phlebotomy experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Obtain in-house blood specimens.
- Identify patients according to policy and perform venipuncture using standard or butterfly methods.
- Label specimens according to laboratory policy.
- Receive, cancel, and order laboratory and microbiology specimens, and process specimens for clinical analysis.
- Provide patient information to the appropriate caregiver.
