The Phlebotomist position is a full-time role with day shift hours, Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with rotating weekends and holidays from 4:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This role is responsible for verifying patient identification, assessing patient reactions to specimen procurement, performing venipuncture, and collecting various specimens from patients of all age groups. The phlebotomist will also perform limited testing, answer telephone calls, assist with inventory, process specimens for testing, and respond to additional specimen procurement requests. Additionally, they will order and verify test requests, document information for quality assurance, run quality control checks, notify providers of critical results, perform laboratory result entry, and conduct proficiency testing. The role also involves instructing employees and students in phlebotomy and related functions, and requires the ability to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
