The Phlebotomist position is a full-time role within the IL ACL Laboratories - Masonic: Support Services department. This role is responsible for verifying positive patient identification, assessing patient reactions to specimen procurement, and performing venipuncture and collecting other specimens from patients of all age groups. The phlebotomist will also perform limited testing under CLIA guidelines, answer telephone calls, assist with inventory and supplies, and process specimens for testing. Additionally, they will respond to specimen procurement requests, order and verify test requests, document information for quality assurance, run quality control checks, notify providers of critical results, and perform laboratory result entry. The role also involves instructing employees and students in phlebotomy and related functions, and requires the ability to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
