Requirements

Possession of a high school diploma or GED
One (1) year of full-time paid experience as a phlebotomist in an in-patient or out-patient setting.
Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician by the California State Department of Health Services is required at the time of appointment.
Possession of a valid California Driver's License is required at time of appointment.

Responsibilities

Collect blood, breath, and urine specimens from adults and juveniles.
Distribute specimens to appropriate laboratories or facilities for testing or storage.
Maintain inventory control and ensure supplies are stocked and ready for use.
Perform clerical tasks such as word processing, filing, and maintaining departmental records.
Follow quality control procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
Provide expert witness testimony in legal proceedings when necessary.
Book evidence and maintain accurate records of lab tests and confidential information.
Adhere to safety procedures and OSHA standards for processing and transporting bodily fluids.
Maintain a clean, sterile environment and ensure specimens security during the collection process.
Perform related duties as assigned.
