About The Position

The Phlebotomist performs a variety of phlebotomy procedures and/or patient point-of-care testing in support of clinical activities across the Healthcare System. This position is with Rex Lab Customer Svcs at UNC REX Healthcare in Raleigh, North Carolina. It is an onsite, full-time role scheduled Monday through Friday, 3:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with work every third weekend. The standard workweek is 40 hours.

Requirements

• One year of phlebotomy experience, or graduation from a phlebotomy program with no prior experience required.
• No education credential is required if other position qualifications are met.
• No licensure or certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Consult and confer with healthcare providers and patients regarding patient-care issues related to phlebotomy services.
• Ensure the quality and accuracy of work.
• Investigate problems involving equipment, patient results, specimens, and workflow.
• Participate on teams or perform special projects and assignments as needed.
• Teach and train new employees, phlebotomy students, and/or other healthcare providers as needed.
• Review test results for accurate reporting and timely correction of errors, or report results to healthcare providers, as needed.
• Perform phlebotomy procedures, quality control, and equipment maintenance in the appropriate laboratory.
• Ensure completion of daily work and assigned tasks, and monitor daily operations of the laboratory work area.
