About The Position

The Clinical Lab Assistant prepares patient specimens for analysis and provides technical support for a specific clinical service or program. The role performs specimen processing procedures and provides quality control and equipment maintenance. It may also monitor the daily operation of a clinical service or program, assist with teaching laboratory science students and other trainees or new employees, and participate in teams or special projects. The position is full-time, onsite, and scheduled for evening work at Rex Core Lab in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; a higher-level degree may satisfy this requirement.
• No professional experience required.
• No licensure or certification required.

• Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Consult with or confer with healthcare providers and/or the laboratory supervisor about specimen suitability, procedures, media preparation, or instrument function checks.
• Investigate and troubleshoot problems involving equipment, procedures, specimens, reagents, and/or workflow.
• May assist in teaching Clinical Laboratory Science students, Pathology residents, fellows, visiting scientists, and/or new employees.
• May monitor the daily operation of a specific clinical service or program.
• May participate on teams or perform special projects and assignments.
• Perform specimen processing procedures.
• Provide quality control and equipment maintenance.
